제1세부과제 ‘독도 영유권 확립을 위한 학제 간 연구’의 경우 연구내용은 1단계 1년차의 경우 『죽도고』·『죽도기사』·「원록구병자년조선주착안일권지각서」·‘울릉도쟁계(죽도일건)’의 다학문 융복합 연구이고, 2년차의 경우 「조선국교제시말내탐서」와 「태정관지령」의 국제적 실증 연구이고, 3년차의 경우 나카이 요자부로 자료 재해석, 「시마네현 고시 제40호」, 『죽도급울릉도』의 다학문 통섭 연구이다. 제2세부과제 ‘독도 영유권 확립을 위한 국제적 기반조성과 미발굴 독도관련 자료의 탐색과 수집’은 두 트랙으로, ‘독도 영유권 확립을 위한 국제적 기반조성’에서는 해마다 반복되는 일본의 도발적 홍보에 대해 지속적인 언론 모니터링, 일본, 미국, 러시아, 중국 언론의 모니터링과 분석을 통해 독도 대응전략 매뉴얼을 작성할 것이다. 1년차에는 언론 모니터링 결과보고서, 2년차에는 동북아 4개국, 일본, 미국, 러시아, 중국의 논조 비교분석, 3년차에는 종합적인 독도 대응전략 매뉴얼을 작성할 것이다. ‘미발굴 독도관련 자료의 탐색과 수집’에서는 독도관련 미발굴 자료의 존재 가능성이 있는 일본(고문헌), 미국(대일 평화조약관련), 러시아(러일전쟁관련), 중국(고지도관련)의 고문서보관서(아카이브)를 탐색할 것이다. 자료의 존재가능성이 확인될 때까지 현지통신원(correspondent)을 통해 자료를 탐색할 예정이다. 아울러 동남해 연안의 울릉도·독도 관련 어로문화·민속자료 조사도 병행할 예정이다. 이 두 개의 세부과제는 동시에 연속적으로 진행될 것이다. 제3세부과제는 ‘수시과제’이다. 그 연구내용의 경우 첫째, 2015년 개정 교육과정’의 독도 교육내용 체계 연구, 둘째, 독도전시회 개최 및 독도 도슨트(해설사) 양성 지원, 셋째, 중학교 ‘자유학기제’에 따른 독도 교육 프로그램 활성화, 넷째, 독도 교육관련 교원연수 및 학생활동에 관한 조사연구이다.
